Counselling is generally shorter term and is more focused on here and now issues or life events, though these may be longstanding issues which surface that were not addressed at the time or perhaps not identified. Counselling offers confidential, unbiased support through these events or issues, helping you work through and explore their impact on you.
A counselling session provides a time purely for you, where you will be heard and understood, to offload, express your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a safe, non-judgemental environment. You will not be “advised” on solutions but helped to find your own resolutions.
Counselling helps raise awareness of your thought process and provides the opportunity to see things from a different perspective. It can also help you gain a better understanding of yourself and gives you the chance to make changes to your life where you chose to.
